Price the revision rounds

WhizSuite · 2026-09-19

Clients are not villains for asking twice. The proposal was vague about what twice means.

Define a round in one line

A round is one set of notes on a named version, returned as a new version. Say that. Otherwise every emoji is a round and every real rewrite is "just a tweak."

Cap the rounds per batch, not per feeling. A batch of eight posts with two rounds is estimable. Eight posts with infinite rounds is a second salary.

Price the overage before it happens

Write the fee for a third round while everyone is friendly. A number in the contract is easier than a tense call. Some clients will buy the extra round. Some will stop at two. Both are fine.

Concept changes are not rounds against the old concept. A new idea starts a new count. Say so, or you will redraw the campaign inside "round two."

Internal rounds are yours

Do not bill the client for your own quality gate unless the contract is explicitly time and materials. Internal review is the cost of sending clean work. Client rounds are the variable.

If internal review is endless, that is a staffing or brief problem. Raising the client's price will not fix a studio that cannot decide.

Show the count

A visible round count prevents the argument. People behave better when the number is on the work. They behave worse when the number appears as a surprise invoice line.

If you never enforce the cap, delete it from the next proposal. A rule you do not use teaches the client that the document is theater.
