Rights for UGC before you post
WhizSuite · 2026-07-23
User content looks easy and carries someone else's face. Treat the permission as part of the asset.
Ask in writing
A comment or a DM that clearly allows reposting, from the account that owns the photo, saved with the file. Verbal "they seemed fine" is not a file.
Say where you will use it. A story permission is not an ads permission. Do not stretch it.
Credit as promised
If you said you would tag them, tag them. If the network makes tagging awkward, tell them that before you post. Surprise omissions become complaints.
Keep their handle in the asset note. Handles change, and you may need to show what you agreed.
No quiet edits that mislead
Cropping out a person who did not agree, or adding a claim they did not make, breaks the permission. Use the image in the spirit you described.
If you need a heavier edit, ask again.
When they say no or nothing
No means no. Silence means no. Make your own photo or pick another post. The calendar can survive a gap better than a takedown.
Store the no next to the asset so a teammate does not ask again next month and then post anyway.
