When breaking the grid is the point

WhizSuite · 2026-10-02

Grid discipline is a tool. Some weeks the tool is wrong.

Break it for a reason

A launch, a protest, a recall, a festival. The row can shout. Say why in the internal note so next month's designer does not "fix" the archive into blandness or copy the shout into ordinary weeks.

Tell the client before the row goes odd. Surprise is fun in a deck and less fun when it is their storefront.

Keep one thread of sense

Even a loud week can keep a crop rule or a type rule so it looks deliberate. Total chaos and a system people do not understand look the same from outside.

Limit the break to a set number of tiles. An open-ended "we'll post wild for a bit" becomes the new normal by accident.

Plan the return

The tiles after the break reintroduce the usual look. If you do not plan them, the profile stays loud because nobody wants to be the person who posts the quiet photo.

Write the return date on the calendar.

Do not break it to hide a mistake

A bad crop is not a concept. Replace the file or leave the day empty. Calling it a creative direction fools the internal meeting and not the audience.

If you are unsure, preview it on a phone and ask one person who does not know the excuse. Their first sentence is the review.
